What is coaching?

Coaching and counselling exist on the same continuum.

Coaching is an opportunity to slow down and get to know yourself better. In a loud and fast moving world, it creates a space for you to get quiet and hear yourself. This inner voice serves as your compass, helping you move through the world with more courage, confidence, and compassion.

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?

Coaching and therapy are both valuable tools for personal growth, yet they serve distinct purposes.

People come to therapy for a lot of reasons. And most of us are hoping for a quick fix. But real change requires us to dig a little deeper.

Grounded in compassion, we help you shift the conversation from “what’s wrong with me?” to explore “what happened to me.” The experiences of our lives deeply shape our thoughts, feelings, and behavioural patterns. Some experiences may even lead us to take on beliefs that we are “not enough,” insignificant, or even unloveable. So of course we would find ways to armour up and protect ourselves against the pain of those beliefs. At Inner Trailheads, we deeply believe that everyone is coping and navigating this world in the best way they know how.

Our hope is that counselling provides you with a safe and non-judgemental space to get curious about yourself and the challenges you’ve faced. Our experienced team will help you get to the root of your pain. We work with you, at your pace, on your goals, to access your inherent capacity for growth and healing.

All of our coaches are also registered social workers, so if your benefit plan includes RSWs then coaching is covered!
We believe that there is no wrong door when it comes to reaching out for support. Our skilled practitioners can help you navigate the line between the two, recognizing that at different times or stages in your life, you will need a different approach.
Melissa is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Federation of Coaches and does provide mentor coaching to those looking for certification. This is also a great option for leaders who want to hone their coaching skills.

YES! We love working with organizations who recognize that “soft skills” are essential skills for a strong company culture. Our team knows the value of including thoughtful reflective exercises and discussions to allow participants to really integrate their learning.
